UK further extends the deadline for the cosmetics labeling requirements

For seven years until 31 December 2027, the name, address, and country of origin requirements are satisfied if there is compliance with Article 19(1)(a) of the EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009.

Please note that this deadline concerns only product labeling. Companies selling products in the UK market (England, Scotland, and Wales) should follow UK Cosmetics Regulation regarding notification and ingredient compliance.

Aerosol dispensers

For cosmetic products also contained in aerosol dispensers, the aerosol dispensers will need to meet the requirements of the Aerosol Dispensers Regulations 2009, which includes the requirement to mark the dispenser with the UKCA compliance mark, which is replacing the reversed epsilon mark. There is dual recognition of the reversed epsilon (“3”), until 31 December 2024.

To reduce labelling costs, the UK will allow businesses to affix the UKCA marking and include importer information for products from EEA countries on an accompanying document or label until 31 December 2027.
